Fernando Torres started the season with his own title ambitions, but the Liverpool hot shot is now tipping Arsenal to make a late burst for Barclays Premier League glory.

The Spain striker, struggling to secure Champions League football with the Reds for next season, believes Arsene Wenger deserves the trophy after five years without silverware

Top tip: Fernando Torres is backing Arsenal for glory

The injury-hit Gunners are a point behind champions Manchester United and three behind leaders Chelsea with five games to play, but Torres reckons the top two have tougher run-ins.

'I want Arsenal to be the champions,' Torres told French TV. 'They have the best fixtures of the three.
'Wenger deserves to walk away with the title. He should be imitated for the work he has achieved over all these seasons.'

Chelsea's 2-1 win at Manchester United on Saturday puts the Londoners in a strong position to win their first League title since 2006.

But Carlo Ancelotti's team still have to go to Tottenham and Torres can also have a part to play in the title race when the Blues go to Anfield on May 1.

Arsenal must also go to north London rivals Spurs and also host high-flying Manchester City in the run-in as well as having the distraction of the Champions League and an injury list that includes Cesc Fabregas, Andrey Arshavin, Robin van Persie, William Gallas and Aaron Ramsey.

United hope to become the first team to win the title four times in a row, which would put them one ahead of Liverpool on 19 total championships, while their hardest-looking match is at City on April 17.

Liverpool, in contrast, are four points behind City with a game less to play as they face missing out on Champions League football for the first time since 2003-04.
